Before we started the excavation for the septic I wanted to see what we might find in the yard. I started researching metal detectors and it dawned on me that like my kiteboarding community that there might be a club that would be interested in detecting my yard. I wrote to Massachusetts Treasure Hunting Association suggesting my grandfather introduced me to the hobby and that I knew there was significance in seeing what we might find.

Mark Roberts responded and like my chasing wind he was all about heading over the next day. Later Jim Meaney and Paulo Adams came out to see what might be lurking under the surface. Jim actually came twice and I really appreciated Marks intro on day one but Jim really was very kind, thoughtful, and considerate about his advocation for the hobby as an enthusiast was really infectious and enjoyed our time treasure hunting the property.

But Paulo was the one who pointed out the maker of some of my fireplace tiles and was really helpful know a lot about old houses and glass fixtures too.

We did not find to much but some connections:
- These barbells seemed to be from horse related gear like leather rivets
- A cleat from the old sailboat found in the barn
- Silver Quarter and a number of wheat pennies
- A old metal Datsun
- key to a jewelry box
- Dog tag from 1950’s Mills dog (previously mentioned in another post)
- Lots of copper roof snips
- Lots more copper and junk
But it was a great experience and really happy to have networked with these guys!
